Grants Pass, OR — On February 7, 2011 at 01:43 a.m., Devin Brennan called 911 and reported that his landlord shot him in the foot. Brennan declined on-scene medical treatment and was transported to Three Rivers Community Hospital by private vehicle. Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to 4801 Cloverlawn Drive, the scene of the shooting, where they conducted an investigation.

Investigators believe Stauffer shot the unarmed Brennan in the foot after the two argued over landlord/tenant issues. The weapon used was a .38 caliber revolver loaded with “rat shot,” a small lead shot typically used by farmers to kill rats and other small animals.

Brennan’s injuries were not serious, and he was treated and released from the hospital. Stauffer was arrested on assault charges and the case has been referred to the District Attorney’s Office.
