Marine Rescue Quick & Successful
Sunday, April 10, 2011

Yesterday, April 9th, at about 4:00 p.m., a 21-foot aluminum boat with four passengers capsized.

The boat flipped over completely, dumping two of the passengers and ending right-side up with the other two passengers still inside.

The boat sunk rapidly, as it was filling with water and reportedly without power.

Deputy Jason Schmidt immediately responded, putting in at Indian Mary Park to go to their rescue. The first two passengers to fall out waited on some rocks at Dunn Riffle. The other two, the driver and a passenger, got out of the sinking boat and were picked up about 300 yards downriver from Hellgate Bridge.

The driver, David Arlen Lehmann, was transported to Three Rivers Community Hospital with minor injuries. The other three passengers were without injuries.
