Airport Day September 2nd, 2017 -- Big Fun!

Our third-annual Airport Day Open House was a big success by all measures. Attendance estimates ranged up to 1500 this year, the biggest yet.

Highlights included a water-drop in front of the crowd by an off-duty ODF firefighting helicopter, and a rappel demonstration by the Siskiyou Rappel Crew of the US Forest Service. The Rogue Valley Flyers Radio-Control Club provided two separate 45-minute air shows; the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 725 put on a delicious pancake breakfast and a flight demonstration of different homebuilt designs; there was a custom car show with over 50 very cool vehicles on display; Dave Bartholemew flew his powered parachute in the morning; Reb Wallace flew his weight-shift trike all day, providing rides to the intrepid; there was also a 1930's New Standard biplane giving rides.

Here's a highlight from our local news station KTVL

The County Airports crew would like to thank all the hundreds of locals who came out on this BEAUTIFUL Labor Day Saturday to enjoy one of the highlights of the summer. Our crew of dedicated volunteers is to be commended as well!
