THE JOSEPHINE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ARE ADVERTISING FOR THE FOLLOWING VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
 
 
 
The Josephine County Board of Commissioners are currently accepting applications to fill vacancy(s) on the JOSEPHINE COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH
 
Position(s) open:  Three
Veterinary, Dentist, Physican
  
The purpose of the Board of Health is to make recommendations to the Public Health Authority through the administrator of the Public Health Department for the development of an effective and efficient public health programs throughout Josephine County by receiving Public Health Staff reports and making appropriate recommendations and encouraging County citizens to present department program concerns to the Board of Health and to respond to issues being reviewed by the board.  The Board also makes suggestions regarding financial resources such as grants, fee income, general funds, etc.

Position(s) open: Three

The Josephine County Mental Health Advisory Board believes that all individuals have a right to access a full range of mental health services.  The Boards’ role is to help assess and represent the community’s mental health needs, and to facilitate and support the development and implementation of services to meet these.  The Board also strives to promote public awareness of the services provided by the County Mental Health Program and to promote community education regarding mental illness.  The Board is composed of representatives from several area agencies and the general public.  Terms run for four years.

Position(s) open:  One
Mental Health
 
The LADPC actively supports the promotion of healthy families and community lifestyles by preventing and reducing alcohol and drug abuse.  Members believe that all individuals have the right to access an effective continuum of alcohol and drug prevention, intervention, and treatment services.  Collaborative community efforts will maximize the effectiveness of local resources.  The purpose of LADPC is to make Recommendations to the Board of Commissioners in matters pertaining to local alcohol and drug issues, funding and services.

The Josephine County Board of Commissioners are currently accepting applications to fill vacancy(s) on the JOSEPHINE COUNTY SPECIAL TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
 
Position(s) open:  One
Disabled Provider
 
The Advisory Committee is composed of up to nine members, each of which must be a resident of Josephine County.  The duties of the Special Transportation Advisory Committee are to advise the Board of Commissioners regarding the opportunities to coordinate Special Transportation Fund (STF) and Special Transportation Operating (STO) moneys and STF and STO funded projects with other transportation program and services to avoid duplication and gaps in service.

Position(s) open:  One
Illinois Valley/City of Cave Junction Representative
 
The JHCDC administers the federally funded, Section 8 Tenant-Based Assistance programs for Josephine County.  Their purpose is to provide low-income residents with opportunities to obtain affordable housing and achieve self-sufficiency.  In general, the board members set the direction and tone of the JHCDC.  They give direction to the Executive Director, as necessary, and review situations brought to their attention.  The board is responsible for the decisions they make in their capacity as board members.  The Board reviews, sets and amends policies for general operation, reviews new programs and decides whether or not to apply for them, reviews regular program reports submitted by staff at monthly meetings, etc.  Applicants for these positions must not be nor have been a landlord, agent for a landlord or a relative of an agent/landlord of a participant who receives/d direct assistance from this housing authority in the past twelve (12) consecutive months from the date of application for the position you are applying.

The Josephine County Board of Commissioners are currently accepting applications to fill vacancy(s) on the LOCAL PUBLIC SAFETY COORDINATING COUNCIL

Citizen Member At-Large

The Local Public Safety Coordinating Council shall, at minimum: 
 
  1. Develop and recommend to the County Board of Commissioners the plan for use of:
    1. State resources to serve the local youth offender population; and
    2. State and local resources to serve the needs of that part of the local offender population who are at least 15 years of age and less than 18 years of age, which plan must provide for coordination of community-wide services involving prevention, treatment, education, employment resources and intervention strategies; and
  2. Coordinate local criminal justice policy among affected criminal justice entities.

The general duties and responsibilities of the trustees are recommend to the Board of County Commissioners expenditures from the Library Fund or the Public Library Fund; accept, use or expenditure of any real or personal property or funds donated to the Library; and be responsible for such other activities as the Board of County Commissioners may hereafter determine.

The Josephine County Board of Commissioners are currently accepting applications to fill vacancy(s) on the JOSEPHINE COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES BOARD       
 
Position(s) open:  One
Health Care/Emergency Department Physician
 
The duties of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Board are to review and make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners regarding all applications for assignment of Ambulance Service Areas, including initial license, amendment to a license, or renewal of license.  The Board is also responsible for providing ongoing input to the County from pre-hospital care consumers, care providers, ambulance service providers and the medical community in Josephine County.

The Josephine County Board of Commissioners are currently accepting applications to fill vacancy(s) on the JOSEPHINE COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE    
 
Position(s) open:  One
Representative of an Animal Welfare Organization
 
The purpose of the JASAC is to advise and make recommendations to the Josephine County Board of Commissioners and Josephine County Public Health Director regarding long range planning and budgeting for Josephine County Animal Shelter, animal shelter operations, and use of the animal shelter facility.  Except as may be otherwise provided for herein, the JASAC shall comply with Josephine County Administrative Policies & Procedures, Policy A-4, Advisory Bodies (Boards, Commissions, Committees, Sub-Committees).
