The Community Corrections Work Crew provides intensive supervision 8 hours per day, 7 days a week. Each week there are between 15 - 18 work crews working in the community. Our crews are comprised of Supervisory Authority, Community Service; Work Alternative; Drug Court sanctions; and Parole/Probation Sanctions referrals.
The Work Crews contract with non-profit and government agencies, and charge a daily rate for service. Crews provide labor intensive work benefiting the County, which may otherwise go undone at agencies such as, but not limited to, County Parks, County Forestry, Siskiyou National Forest, Public Works, City of Grants Pass, Chamber of Commerce and ODOT. This program also offers an educational component providing for job training in equipment usage, safety requirements and team building.
There are over 62,000 hours completed annually on the Adult and Juvenile Work Crews in Josephine County, providing a saving exceeding $450,000 to tax payers and allowing offenders the opportunity to provide restorative justice, giving back to their community. Workers / offenders must be physically capable of performing required work, light duty is very limited if available. This was previously referred to as the Trailblazer II Program.
If you are with a non-profit organization or government agency in Josephine County and are interested in finding out more about the Community Corrections Work Crew, Please contact Annette Sorensen at (541) 474-5192 for more information.
