FEQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • When did this fee get put into place and how long will it be assessed? The fees started October 1, 2005, based on the Board of County Commissioners decision to implement a day parking fee by Order 2005-288, for all County Parks. Resolution No. 2006-068 signed October 4, 2006 by the Board of County Commissioners authorizing collection and enforcement of Day Parking Fees beginning January 1, 2007.

  • I pay taxes, why am I being asked for this fee? A lot of citizens do not know this, but Josephine County Parks has not received any tax dollars or county funds for several years.  All money collected goes to Parks operations and maintenance.

  • So if I pay this fee, will I see improvements in the parks?  Yes! The fees collected so far this year are already making it possible to bring on extra help, to repair and clean park facilities, and will continue to be used in Parks only, such as the new ADA docks at Lake Selmac.

  • Do I have to pay at every park I visit in a single day? No; once the day parking fee is paid, you may use it on the same it was purchased at all Josephine County Parks.

  • I have been using these parks for 20 years, what if I refuse to pay?  If you do not wish to pay, there are other parks that do not have a fee. City parks and private parks, Argo, Rand, Whitehorse boat ramp, Galice, and Graves Creek do not charge a Day Parking fee.
  • What constitutes Day Parking? Day Parking is using any park property or facility for parking. This includes most boat ramps and parking lots.

  • What if I am a paid camper? Paid camp receipts are the same as day passes and are good in all parks listed below.

  • How long and from what time period are annual passes good for? Annual passes are good from Jan 1st to Dec 31st each year. Any other questions not answered here can be answered by calling 541-474-5285.
